Thursday, 11 October

Today we started with some students writing their paragraphs on the computers while others worked with me to improve their long division skills or accuracy; in many cases it isn't that students don't know what to do, it is simply that they are not taking enough care during their calculations. At 09:40 the class had band with Mr. Grice.

After recess we developed a rubric to be used with our descriptive paragraph.  We finished that up right after lunch in what was, I thought, a very productive afternoon.  We also reviewed yesterday's socials lesson and read pp 40-49 from the textbook (we used photocopies so we could practice highlighting key ideas).  I would like the reading completed for homework (with 4-5 highlighted items PER PAGE).    Afterwords, we used a handout to confirm our work on Crash from yesterday, and then created a topic sentence to focus our thought towards a paragraph that we will complete tomorrow.  We ended the day with a game of manhunt in the forest.

We didn't get time to do our next art class still life, so that is first on the schedule for tomorrow.

The upcoming dates for skating are on yesterday's post (I told the students they had to read the blog to find out).

Parents, please consider driving on those three days (skating is 11-12 p.m. so you'll have to commit about 2 hours per session).
