Please return the grade 7 consent forms for Vancouver (and tandem bike training) tomorrow at
www.halifaxpersonalinjurylawyerblog.com
the latest.  Also bring the following:

1.  Certified bike helmet that fits your head (put it on, move it forward and backward: your eyebrows should move up and down).

2. Pants with narrow cuffs (or we'll use rubber bands to keep them out of the chain.

3.  Closed-toed shoes - no flip-flops/sandals (hard soles are best).

Short story notes
We started the day by discussing some more short story questions.  We also practiced how to write a "high-school quality" answer after discussing its parts and then we shared our responses. WOW, was I ever impressed by the students' ability to incorporate their learning into first-rate answers.

Next, we worked in our film groups.  Some of the groups have plans over the next few days to get their last bit of film in the can, so parents please be as flexible as you can.

After lunch we read for ten minutes and then did math.  In Math 7, those who had not yet done their unit test, or had not completely finished it, did so in another room.  The remaining students did a post-test review to see how to improve prior to a retest.  The marks were a bit lower on this unit, so I anticipate more students will take advantage of the retest option.

A practice example

Learning to determine "height" of a
triangle

After lunch we read for fifteen minutes and then I gave a short lesson on how to expand categories from the STERM-G acronym that we use in socials inquiry work.  I took the "S"( society) as an example and we collaborated to see how that one idea could be broken down for detailed investigation.
Next, we went to the gym for a fine arts performance that the students seemed to enjoy (personally, I loved it and found myself laughing for most of the hour).  The troupe was called the Duffle Bag Theatre and they hail from Ontario.  There was lots of audience participation and the kids were great.  Here is their website: Dufflebag

Please remember your instruments for band tomorrow.
