Monday, 3 December

Tuesday is skating: here is the list of drivers:

(I'm not sure if Cara will be driving - Mackenzie is now
off to volleyball for the tournament)

We started the day with some cursive writing practice and then practiced writing the numbers from 0-20 in French.  We also did a short oral quiz to see if the students could recognize those numbers when spoken to them in random order.  After that, the class went to band where Mr. Grice discussed the upcoming Christmas concert, and the grade 6/7 bands' part in it.  He asked that students start to search for black and white clothes to wear on the concert day (no colours please - patterns are okay).

After recess we had a fire drill and Division 2 did well.  I ask that there is no talking during emergency  drill and all but five students were able to follow through.  I explained how powerful our class is as a model for the younger students in the school and we saw a demonstration of that when we saw all of the younger classes to our left following our lead and also being silent.  Well done you guys.

Next we had math.  The Math 7 students are now working on a unit review of their study of adding and subtracting integers.  Please have questions 1-6 (pages 79-80) completed for tomorrow's class.

After lunch we had a make-up art lesson with Joanna.  We are still looking at colour and today we examamined complementary colours and how the appearance of a colour changes depending on how it is located in relation to another colour.  We went outside and did a plein air drawing of a tree, and then returned to class to add colour to our sketches.

We ended the day with an introduction to the first of the strength and flexibility exercises that will be used in the fitness assessment.  I was not satisfied with the behaviour of many students after art.  I hope that tomorrow we can do better.

Please remember that for tomorrow you are to have a socials blog comment posted in response to one of the prompts in the text concerning Egypt (see Friday's post for details).

    1. Please ask your mum to come - I may be able to excuse one driver (we'll check in the morning).

Thanks for being on top of this.
